Tower of Hanoi
Move the tower disk by disk, never a big one on a small one.
The classic three-peg puzzle: move all the disks to the Goal one at a time, never putting one on top of a smaller one. 4 to 10 disks. Can you do it in the minimum number of moves?
How to play
- Move all the disks from the first peg to the third, the Goal.
- Tap a peg to lift its top disk and tap another to drop it there (or drag it with your finger or mouse). Tapping the same peg puts it back down.
- Only one disk moves at a time and it can never sit on a smaller one.
- With n disks the minimum is 2ⁿ − 1 moves (15 with 4, 63 with 6, 255 with 8, 1,023 with 10): hit the exact minimum to earn 3 stars. Undo counts as one more move.
- Stuck? Buy a hint (the price is on the button): an arrow shows you the next move of the shortest solution from where you are, but then there’s no best.
- Keyboard: 1, 2 and 3 choose a peg; ← → and Space work too; Z undoes, H hint and N new game.
